Ispirato alla Pala d’altare dei Crivelli
Ci sono momenti che il tempo non ci permette di dimenticare. Ci sono momenti in cui il tempo è sospeso. Ci sono momenti incastonati nel tempo. Ci sono anche momenti in cui il tempo ci offre “l'intermedio” - lo spazio liminale tra il mondo fisico e quello spirituale.
Questo è ciò che descrive il momento di trasformazione quando ho visto per la prima volta l’opera di Vittore e Carlo Crivelli a Monte San Martino.
La Pala dei Crivelli- un capolavoro senza tempo - fa dialogare lo spettatore e i pittori in un modo unico. I due artisti hanno rappresentato uno scambio di idee, combinando storia, religione e umanità in un modo che non avevo mai visto o sperimentato prima.
Volevo catturare la sensazione che si prova guardando la Pala dei Crivelli. Ho scelto il dittico - due semicerchi che ruotano intorno allo spazio “intermedio”. La ricchezza dei colori, l’oro scintillante rievocano e riflettono quelli dell’opera dei Crivelli.
Quest’opera rappresenta un momento che rimarrà per sempre con me. Un regalo.
Inspired by the Crivelli Altarpiece
There are moments time does not let us forget. There are moments time is suspended. There are moments embedded in time. There are also moments time offers us the “in between” – the liminal space between the physical and spiritual worlds.
This describes the transformative moment when I saw, for the first time, the work of Vittore and Carlo Crivelli in Monte San Martino.
The Crivelli altarpiece – a timeless masterpiece – uniquely places the viewer and the painter in conversation. He presented an exchange of ideas, combining history, religion and humanity in a manner I had not seen or experienced before.
I wanted to capture the sensation of viewing the Crivelli altarpiece. I chose the format of a diptych – two half-circles, pivoting around the space “in between.” The rich colors, the glowing gold evoke and reflects upon the colors found in Crivelli’s work.
This piece is a marker of a moment that will always be with me. A gift.
